Long live the lobster
Submitted by joyfulchicken on February 1, 2007 - 11:19pm.I was driving through the horrible Makati traffic this morning when I saw a "lobster sashimi" banner outside a restaurant. Hmm, lobster sashimi... sounds yummy. I've tried it once years ago, but I can no longer remember what it tasted like. I sure would like to try it again. So I made a quick mental note of the restaurant's name and drove on.
When I got home in the afternoon, I immediately Googled "Bamu Seafood" and got... zero results. Huh? So the restaurant has zero Web presence? Of course, the more plausible explanation is that I got the name wrong. In my defense, I drove by that place at around 9:30 AM. I'm usually asleep at that hour, and I don't think mental notes work too well when the brain is sleepy. Hey, at least I still remember where the restaurant is. Wait, do I? Damn it!
Well, no use crying over spilt memories. I did the next best thing. I Googled "lobster sashimi" and found this disturbing video of... live lobster sashimi?
WARNING: don't watch this if you're squeamish.
It's alive! It's alive!
What the hell? Oh well, at least no one can complain that the lobster isn't fresh, heh. Hmm, was the lobster sashimi that I tried before still half-alive when I ate it? Nah, I don't think so. I would have remembered that detail even with my leaky memory.
Aw, poor lobster... that looks quite painful. But--I'm sorry to tell you this, my dear clawed crustacean friend--you won't know what real pain is until they drag your twitching dismembered butt through a chunk of wasabi. Mmm... wasabi.
Seriously, this whole live lobster sashimi thing is just so wrong. I've got to try it.
