GMail (yes, it's still in beta)
Submitted by joyfulchicken on August 7, 2007 - 10:03pm.I like GMail. It has a lot of useful features. But of course, there are also some less useful ones. One example is Web Clips, which displays random links from non-Google sources at top of your inbox. I usually ignore those, but last night, something caught my attention.

Hmm, "GooTube Sends a Stinging GMail"? What's that, a link about GMail on GMail Web Clips? Intriguing. I had never clicked on one of those links before, but this one made me curious. A click later, I was taken to a Fool.com article that puts Google's latest marketing gimmick in a negative light. OK, so the whole thing wasn't really that interesting, but still... Google blooper. Um, yay?
Are you getting bored now? Let me bore you some more. Look at the screenshot above. Did you notice the 1117 unread email messages in my inbox? Yes, 1117. That's what the inbox of a serial procrastinator looks like. The oldest message I have there is from January 5--that's more than seven freaking months ago.
I think I'm subscribed to way too many mailing lists. Some emails I get are interesting, and I read those right away. But others aren't as compelling, and I'd think, "I'll read this tomorrow." And you know what happens. Days turn into weeks, weeks turn into months, and I'm left with a huge pile of unread mail. Yay.
